If you are a numbers person with an interest in the biological sciences, a biomathematics minor gives you the best of both worlds. The biomathematics minor is an interdisciplinary program that will introduce you to the application of math to biological processes and systems. As a new and exciting growing field, you will obtain training that will lend itself to a number of cutting-edge STEM careers.
The biomathematics minor pairs well with majors in mathematics, biology, computer science, or information systems. A minor in biomathematics allows you to set yourself apart as a competitive candidate for a number of STEM careers, including biostatistics and biomedical research and engineering.

Interdisciplinary minor, offered by the departments of Mathematics and Biology, including 10 credits in Mathematics (all of the following: Mathematics 1201, 2101, and 2501) and 12 credits in advanced electives, each completed with a grade of C- or higher. Similarly, to enroll in any of the applicable courses, students must have completed the any pre-requisite courses with a grade of C- or higher. At least nine of the advanced credits must be completed at Brooklyn College.
Prerequisites for entry into the minor: Biology 1001 and 1002; Mathematics 1201and 2501, with a C- or better. These courses are required for the minor. However, the credits from these courses do not count toward the department requirement of 12 credits to receive a minor.
At least 12 credits in advanced electives, from the following list, with at least six credits each from the departments of Mathematics and Biology, respectively: Mathematics 1531 or Biology 1531, Mathematics 2006 (Special Topic), Mathematics 2706, Mathematics 3111 or other approved advanced mathematics elective, Biology 3083, Biology 4009 or CISC 2810W/Biol 4010W, Biology 4028 or 4024W, Biology 4025, Biology 4027 or other approved advanced biology elective.
