Students will gain a solid foundation in key areas such as music marketing and management, preparing them for a wide range of careers in the modern music business.

Declaring a minor allows you to explore other areas of interest and make interdisciplinary connections. A minor in music allows you to set yourself apart as a candidate for job opportunities in a variety of professions in the media, arts and culture, and education industries or any number of related professions, such as a lyricist or music supervisor.

Select one from the following courses (3 credits):

  • Business 3100, Principles of Marketing
  • Business 3200, Principles of Management

Select two from the following courses (6 credits):

  • Music 3260, Introduction to Music Technology
  • Music 3502, Copyright and Intellectual Property in Music
  • Music 5540, Music Entrepreneurship

The department chair or their deputy may approve up to three credits of course substitutions for one or more of these requirements consistent with the educational goals of the minor.
